To what degree might different languages shape in their speaker different concepts of themselves and the world? What are the implications of such differences for knowledge?
Knowing a language serves great value as to what kind of person you are, therefore language shapes your identity but does not entirely define who you are. Having to know a language gives you an aspect as to how your identify the world. Language has great power as to convey emotion and meaning. There are languages that has more powerful words or phrases than others, therefore has more emphasis through a specific text presented. For example, when a poem is written in Italian or Spanish and it is translated into English, it might not have the same meaning because Italian or Spanish is a romantic language which has constant and vowels that often emphasizes phrases or words, whereas English is standard and might not have the same emotion as Italian or Spanish.

Blog Post 4- Sense Perception and Language
"Nothing we use or hear or touch can be expressed in words that equal what is given by the senses." - Hannah Arendt
This quote suggests that language doesn't always have particular words or vocabulary to know or describe how we feel. Most emotions that we feel cannot be described in words of language. Meaning, there is a limitation to what we know in language. Our senses allows great measures of interpretation of feelings whereas language is limited. Things we hear as well - we can use synonyms but we cannot exactly get the perfect word to explain what we hear, smell or taste. So in a way, our senses is a form of communication (but in this context, with ourselves), because it allows us to interpret this without using words.

Blog Post 3 - A balance between shared and personal knowledge
A balance between shared and personal knowledge is extremely important in the quest for the truth
Knowing both shared and personal knowledge will help us gain more understanding about the world and not to fall into any information that is thrown at us. We need to be questioning what is relevant? Is it the truth? Knowing both knowledge (shared and personal), we will be able to identify if it is true or it is just being said to please the person or make them feel superior in a sense. An example would be a lesson I personally learned in Psychology, where Asch (1951) conducted an experiment to investigate why humans have a need to belong in a group. He showed participants 3 lines labelled A,B and C. And participants had to speculate which line was exactly like the target. Participants had to say the answer out loud, so as they were stating their answers; the other participants followed the same answer because they did not want to feel stupid. This tells us that we find a need to conform in a group even though we know the answer that we personally know is correct; yet we still have the desire to be like everyone else.

Blog Post 2
By participating in the ownership of shared knowledge an individual belongs to particular group possessing a particular perspective on the world. (TOK Guide)
Group - Christianity Bible Studies
Belonging in a group will give you different perspectives about the world. In a religious group, we will definitely find that we know certain things that other do not or cannot express. In this particular group we believe that we learn from God's word and that each and every person within in the group knows His word and the revelation to come - and what is needed or what we as Christians need to prepare for the coming of Christ.
Most religious groups may have the similar proclamations. In this particular group, we are encourage to spread the knowledge of God and help other Christian to prepare for the 2nd coming of Christ. Since we in this group, we might have knowledge and methods that others do not know about to prepare for the 2nd coming of Christ. For those who do not have that knowledge may not know how to grasp upon the subject or they may feel inferior or afraid to repent.

The Problem with Knowledge
The Problem with Knowledge
Throughout the years, everyone's perspective of the world changes. Some people will categorize themselves as being more superior than others, by the development and wealth they have. Countries will rank themselves by the rate of education standards. Which might be why other countries which is not that developed, rely on the higher educated countries. This was evident by the world map used. For example, I'm from South Africa; and my whole primary and most of my secondary school years I never questioned world maps and who drew them. this might because of reason, intuition and faith. South Africans mostly rely on the British for teaching students in the country (grammar and understanding). These perceptions would obviously make these countries feel good about themselves.
